Casio review
This is the third Casio Databank Digital watch I have owned. It operates as advertised except the button used to initiate input is very difficult to operate. It takes many "pushs" to get it to work. A person who found it difficult to manage small buttons would find it difficult to use this watch.
works fine, until something breaks.
I've owned several casio watches.
I owned many in the databank series over the years.

The good:
For the most part they are all great functionally.

The bad:
Plastic issues.
Even with regular use either the (black plastic) bands break or the pin receiver portion of the watch breaks (the area where the band's pin seats itself).
[I take the watch off for showering every day, and it really irks me to have a band start cracking about the 11 month mark].

For the most part, I get about 12 to 18 months use out of a casio, before something breaks. (and it is almost as much to fix as it would be to buy a new watch.

Last year I had one of these and when the band started breaking/cracking, I repaired it with a "plastic repair" kit from Urethane supply company.
The area where the band broke would remain in good shape, but a new crack would start. After 4 plastic repairs, I gave up.

I replaced my databank with a metal waveceptor. Or I thought it was metal. Most of the watch body was simply plastic plated with chrome.
cheap feel
The watch is ok it has a cheap feel to it..everything works.. I will give it 3 stars
Fact: this watch is AWSOME
this watch is so cool- every function works- the only problem is that there are supposedly FAKE casios out there and this might be one only cause it has absolutely no water resistant rating on the back pannel-??? I don't want to test it so i just havn't got it wet, i'm sure it will get wet one day and only then will I know how water resistant it is... no biggie though
Great watch, timeless style.
This watch is great, the reason I bought though was for its nerdy class, if that make any sense. In terms of use however it's very easy to use, I especially like using the stopwatch function since the buttons are so big. The only quirk I have about this watch is the light button that presses sometimes activates itself if you're laying on a flat surface.

Also if anyone here is a fan of "The Office", this is the watch that Dwight wears :)

Cool if you are a kid or just into the retro look
There is not a whole lot that can be said about this watch. The quality isn't necessarily high. It feel rather flimsy and probably not extremely durable. I have not tried the more expensive calculator watches so I can't compare the quality.Based on the picture, I thought it had a glossier finish but it is more of a matte finish. The lack of a backlight can be annoying but isn't something I really needed.

In the end, if you want a calculator watch for fun but not necessarily form & function -- this is a great price and has a neat look.
Looking good, for 1 month.
Nice looking watch, but the battery is dead after one month. I suspect the guts, battery and all, are from the much older black Casio calculator watches.
Fun and fashionable
I got this watch for my 9-year old and she loves it. When I told her they make watches with calculators on them she got so excited so I got her one as a gift. She uses the stop watch a lot when she has to time her piano lesson or reading time. It looks as good or better than the picture. I would have given it five stars except it has no light.
LOVE it! Practical + cute.
I love the style of this watch. Really cute and a little retro. And it fits me perfectly... not too big and bulky but not so small that you can't use the buttons (if you have big fingers you might want to look for a different watch, or prepare to use your fingernails to hit the keys). My only complaint is that the watch doesn't display the date--instead it displays the day of the week which is not at all helpful (I know what day of the week it is!) Other than that its great! And very reasonably priced for such a sweet watch.

Love this watch, but was hoping for an actual calendar
This watch is really great. When I first got it, I didn't have to read the manual in order to set it up. It's pretty easy, especially if you have had a similar watch previously.

I love that it has an alarm also. I don't think the alarm would wake me from sleep since it is only a slight beeping, but it comes in handy for small reminders.

My only complaint about the product is that it doesn't have a calendar. I thought that I would actually be able to browse months at least a year in advance, but by having a "calendar", Casio means that the watch just tells you what day (i.e. Monday, Wednesday, etc.) it is.

Nonetheless, I would still buy the other colors. It's a great watch and the price is right!
Almost better than the Original.
Got this for my wife for her birthday. She is now the envy of all of her friends that have mere black Casio calculator watches.
Cool watch
I think this is a great watch. I work as a nurse and I find it useful to do minor calculations while I'm on the go. I also like how I can set it to be on military time. The one fault I find with it is that there is no backlight. Other than that, it is cute and user friendly!
nerdy nurse
I am completely in love with this watch. I am a nurse and it is the best thing to have bed side! I can calculate everything I ever need and if you leave the answer on the screen it doesn't go away until you clear it. So an hour later I can still remember what I needed. Also it has military time. It is even great at the dinner table or out with friends, instead of getting out the cell phone calculator you are always ready to go. I have gotten complemented on it and other nurses I know have purchased it after seeing mine. Great buy! no back light and the numbers for the calculator are pretty small, if you have trouble seeing up-close I would imagine it would be a little tricky. Fantastic product!
AWESOME
This watch is awesome. I absolutely love it - I get SO many compliments on it!

Nice little geeky watch for my daughter. She wanted it to figure out exchange rates in Europe. She loves it and thinks it is gaudy chic! Set up instructions suck.

Need Wave Receptor Atomic Clock Feature
I have a DBC-W150 and I do not care about any Databank without this

feature - "Receive" button just under the Display.

I have written Casio with this complaint.

If other people complain, Casio will bring back this

feature which makes my Databank the most accurate timepiece

in the world of presently offered Databank Calculator Illimunative

Casio Watches.

Why Casio dropped the ball on this feature defies the primal concept

of any watch - to keep time accurately!

What good are meeting imputations if you are going to show up

untimely?

Best.
Built-In Obsolescence
No one who sells this watch services it, for good reason: replacing the battery in Casio calculator/database watches destroys them. Wal-Mart got wise to this and displays a sign stating that they don't service Casio watches. After my third Casio purchase, I got wise to this too. I'll purchase a Timex calculator watch next time, but I prefer the look and style of Casio.
DB150 was much better
I tried this watch as an alternative to the DB150's that I have used for years. I wanted the large database for phone numbers and thought the DBC150 would meet my needs although I didn't want the calculator. It didn't meet my needs because the display was too small which made the numbers very hard to read. I returned this and tried the EDB610 which has a goofy blue display that makes the info hard to read. I returned that and dropped back to the DB-36 which has less storage but at least I can read the data.
DB-150 had a great display and was easy to read. Bummer that they've been discontinued.
False advertising
The Casio website states that this watch is waterproof to 30M, but after I received it I discovered that it is not waterproof. I therefore returned it.
Needs improvement
I have been using the data bank series for now over 10 years. One thing that Casion is stuck up with is the number of characters that you can enter for a Name or for an appointment. Its quite difficult to enter the names within a limit of 8 characters considering the fact that many people have the same name and most of them have more than one number. It would be convenient if they can allow for more characters. Secondly one should not buy this watch in metallic. The metal thing comes off with the use and can cause scratches. However, it is a very nice watch to have in which one can store 150 telememos. Its very light weight.

Fake iPhones are cheap and popular in China

Posted by adminSep 16, 2009COMMENTS

SHENZHEN, China — I just bought a brand-new iPhone 3GS for $73. And it even came with an extra battery.

The Apple logo is emblazoned on the back. Someone, though, forgot to add the "i" in iPhone, so it simply reads "Phone."

Welcome to the world of China's not-so-underground tech piracy. Fake electronic goods at impossible-to-beat prices are the specialty of the sprawling shopping area along this city's Huaqiang Bei Lu. The wide street is lined with palm trees and jammed with shoppers. Passers-by are offered everything from Windows software to slender laptops with the Toshiba logo.

As Apple prepares to officially launch the iPhone in this country, business in faux iPhones is brisk. Pink, cherry red and black iPhone knockoffs are displayed under glass counters in one mobile phone mall after another. Some knockoffs even combine popular brands — for example, an iPhone logo might appear on a Razr-like mobile device. In each crowded mall, a hundred or so vendors, often young women, sit in cubicle-size booths and offer warm smiles and cheap prices to anyone who stops by.
