A great watch for an inexpensive price
I have had this watch for about 2 months now and really like it. I was a bit apprehensive when I purchased it from amazon. It was very inexpensive compared to the other watches I was considering and I worried that inexpensive meant cheap. I think the watch looks really nice with a nice mixture of black and chrome. I did not expect to like the band and had sworn off plastic bands before. This resin band feels nice with a good grip. There are enough teeth so I have good adjustability. The band looks and feels nice. The display is very clear. With aging eyes the big digital display is easy to read + the analog hands can not obscure the digits. The analog hands fluoresce and are clear against the black background day or night. The light makes the display easy to read.

The buttons are easy to push and make sense. I particularly like the count down timer as it is easy to set and use quickly.

The round second display looks cool but I have not yet found it useful and would leave it as is if I was redesigning.

The only change I would make is to replace the 0 to 60 markers (with #'s every 5 marks) with a typical clock face (12,1,...). Don't let the price full you.
Nice comfortable watch.
Good comfort, style and functionality. Especially like that at night the watch light automatically turns on when I turn my wrist to look at it.
worth the paid USD
I had this watch about 6 months. The construction appear to be long lasting. I took this watch several times swimming and snorkeling into the ocean, or to the swimming pool. Still working...never a problem. Only concern is that the glass (actually, I think is plastic)gets scratched pretty easily. The service provided by this watch is worth the little money (less than 30 USD)it costs.
Nice Product, Good Price
I love this watch. I love how it has different functions such as world time etc. It has a nice, unique design. I just wish that the wristband was a little thicker, I hope mine lasts a long time, we'll see. All in all, its a good, all day watch.
One big flaw
The watch is well designed. I like it very much. It has an array of very good features like timer, stopwatch, time for various cities world wide, light and it is analog and digital which is very convenient. Unfortunately the dial window is not sapphire and although amazon's web page states that it is mineral, I doubt it very much. It appears to be plastic. ALthough I am very careful with my stuff, during my recent vacation my watch got a lot of scratches and I do not recall any rough handling. On the contrary, I was very careful.

So be notified that your watch will start getting scratches all the time and you will start wondering what on earth could have caused them. I fear that it will get so many scratches you will not be able to use it any more because you will not be able to read the hour. So just have in mind that it is a temporary watch. Come on Casio! you could have done much better in this respect because the watch deserves it.

My son loved it !
My son wanted watch for when he surfs,he is very pleased with this watch.Bought it for Christmas gift. Also a good price.
That strap!
Like a lot of the other people who reviewed this watch, I think it's gorgeous; however, I have to agree that the strap is stiff and somewhat uncomfortable. It's also important to realize that it is a little hard to set, but that's mostly do to its waterproof rating. Keep that in mind. Otherwise, it's a good buy.
Great value for the price!
This just arrived in the mail for me today. I immediately took it out of the box to set and begin wearing it.

My first impression is that it's got a great weight and looks a lot "richer" than what it costs. I own 10+ watches from different manufacturers (Tissot, Orient, Victorinox, Timex, Suunto, Citizen, etc) and the weight of this watch is really better than others it might be compared with. My Citizen Echo Drive BM8180 (also purchased from Amazon) is more expensive but feels markedly less substantial than this watch.

The finish on the watch looks top notch. The strap lines right up with the lugs of the watch and sits nicely against the bezel. The bezel itself also turns easily but not cheaply. For a $50 price point, I'm amazed at the apparent quality of the bezel!

The Super Illuminator function is pretty fantastic. When the top crown is pressed the dual LEDs come on and then remain on for 3 seconds after letting the pusher go. Nice feature.

The screw down crown is also a really great feature for increasing water resistance.

There are only a couple points of concern for me. These are minor, but being a watch snob, they definitely stand out. The first is the second hand. As others have mentioned it's slightly off from the indices on the face while ticking. The second concern is setting the watch. When the minute hand is lined up with your upcoming minute and you push the crown in at the 00 mark, the mechanism seems to kick the minute hand in reverse by about 1/4 minute. Easily overcome by forward setting the minute hand, but it took a little getting used to. Also, you need to push the crown in with a fair bit of force. It feels a little spongy until it clicks in. Finally, again as others have noted, the band is the most rigid I've ever encountered. I'll give it a week or so to see how it goes, but I'm already thinking about a replacement band or NATO.

Overall first impression, tremendous value for the price! Definitely worth more than what I paid. Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up.

Pros:
1. Weight
2. Finish
3. Appearance
4. Bezel and bezel movement
5. Super Illuminator LEDs!

Cons:
1. Second hand does not line up with indices on the face
2. Setting the watch requires some tinkering
3. "Spongy" feel to the crown
4. Very rigid, uncomfortable band.
Surprisingly good
This watch is worth every penny you pay for it. It keeps track of time well, the LEDs at the 12 and 6 positions are a great idea and the watch is very easy to read in any light condition. It's a bit on the small side when compared to other dive watches. I substituted the original plastic band which I found uncomfortable with a Zulu band and now the watch sits well and comfortably on my wrist. The only criticism I have is that the watch is way too shiny, something that doesn't show in the online photos. I think it would have looked better if it were more subdued or even if it had a sandblasted finish.
Great Watch!
Bought this watch for my husband for Christmas. He loves watches and is pretty picky about them. He loves this watch! He loves the size of the face and the band ( I was a little concerned that the band would be too stiff. But it wasn't at all!) I thought this was a very masculine and athletic-looking watch and that proved to be true. We are very pleased with this purchase. Saw it originally in People Magazine for a good price from Amazon.com Then when I bought it from Amazon.com the price was even better!! Loved that too!

Casio men's watch
Good product. Seems well made and accurate. The digital parts are poorly visible in ordinary room light unless the display is turned on. The delivery service was fast.
Great Watch
This is a great watch, it has all the features most people would want, and the price is the best I found.
Great Product
Very Nice, with many options like chrono, timer, alarms, world time, etc. Elegant, light... For that price is a really good choice.
WATCH DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WAS SHOWING ON AMAZON
WATCH DOES NOT MATCHING BOOK ALSO INSTRUCTIONS NOT VERY UNSTANDABLE. NOT TOO HAPPY WHEN IT ARRIVED AND DIFFERENT ON MAIN PAGE FOR AMAZON OR RETAILLER
One weakness - the band
I love the design of this watch and bought two of them when they cost $60.00. The only thing is the plastic section of the band that connects to the watch. Both bands have failed at that same place. The plastic cracks and breaks. I have been able to replace the bands with another metal one. The new bands pin into the other weak spot -- the plastic connecting piece that looks like metal. Eventually that gives way too. Now that the price is less than half of what I paid for them, I'll buy another one because the functions are so great.

Excellent watch
The watch could be a little thinner but it is not a complaint. I really like it so far.
Excellent watch and a great price.
I have many watches and this is my everyday watch alternating with the light grey color dial model since I got one of each. I do not understand some people complaining about how difficult to use it and they have to carry the manual with them. I am retired, over 65 and do not have any problem to remember all the basic functions I need to use when I am on a trip. All in all it is a very nice looking watch, very accurate and an excellent value for the money buying it from a first class place and one of the most reliable source Amazon.com.
Highly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a good loking watch at a very reasonable price for everyday use.
received 2 defective watches
both first watch and replacement leaked - never submerged below one meter - supposedly "water resistant to 50 meters"
Great Buy For Less Than $25
I bought the watch as I wanted an inexpensive casual watch with a metal band. I liked the picture of the watch so I ordered it.

I like it.

I also bought another casio watch with this one that has the same guts.

As with the other one, the crystal does scratch easily so don't go banging this thing against walls. Also, the backlight doesn't do much good.

But... all in all, I like this lightweight watch.

I rate it only with 3 stars but don't let that discourage you. It's a good time piece.
Good watch for the price -- a compromise on form and function
I have been a big fan of Casio Telememo watches for some time and have owned several. This particular model represents a balance between features and looks; on the upside, it has the fancy Casio features you expect, plus it looks good. On the downside, the features are a little less convenient than on other Casios.

-Looks
Many have complained about the color being closer to purple. I disagree -- it's indeed a very dark and muted grayish blue, but I would not call it purple. The silver band, dark gray accents, and blue and gray-blue dial work well together and is the main reason I chose this over other Casio models.

The analog face is easy to read in the daytime, but at night the yellow light only weakly illuminates the analog hands (Timex's Indiglo puts it to shame) and it doesn't light the digital LCD display at all. Truth be told, though, even on other Telememo watches the backlight goes out when pressing buttons in the Telememo and other features, so really the main thing you lose here is the ability to see the date in the dark.

-Features
The Telememo function is here but is definitely a poor implementation. Scrolling through the database, you see only names, not numbers. You have to press the SET button (which is hard to remember) to see the number, and even then you don't see the whole number -- it is scrolled by slowly only 5 digits at a time. Still useful if you're stuck somewhere without your cell phone, though.

Unlike some other Casios, you cannot set a date on the two alarms, only a time.

The World Time, stopwatch, and countdown timer function as usual.

Turning DST (Daylight Saving Time) on and off for the digital portion is relatively easy, but for the analog portion it's slow and painful in the fall as you have to advance the hands around the dial 11 hours (Casio should really have linked the digital and analog clocks together!). Similarly, setting the analog hands initially also required a look in the book to realize the "H-S" mode is the "Hand Set" mode.

-Summary
Casio had to compromise on some features (light, Telememo) to squeeze them into an analog watch, so the user experience is not as polished as it is on other Casio models. Still, if you want something a little more stylish and a little less geeky than a full-digital Casio Telememo, this is a good choice, especially considering the low price.

Swimmer
I found the watch comfortable to wear, easy to read in the dark, but found it difficult to set the current time. Buttons too small for my finger or maybe my finger is too big for the buttons. Other than this, it's a great deal.
Cute watch, comfortable and works well
I got this watch for Christmas and have been very pleased with it. It's comfortable to wear and all of the features seem to work great. I haven't tested it to the max by any means, but it has a LOT of features for a very inexpensive watch. I just wanted a casual watch, so it met my requirements and then some. I especially like the dual time zone feature.
NOT water resistant
Bought this in June 2009. Wore it off and on for 6 months. Took it on a cruise in December, had it in the ocean for less than an hour and it started to die. The inside was fogged up with condensation and within 2 hours the watch was completely non functional. I was in less than 2 feet of water. Although Timex will fix the watch for $8 if you pay for shipping, it's probably worthwhile to spend more on a better watch. Also a bad thing about this watch is that you can't ever turn off the "Beep" when you switch between functions.
Bought for a 12 year old
We bought this watch for our 12 year old granddaughter and she was very pleased with the purchase. Item arrived promptly and in excellent condition.
nice yet inexpensive
I am very happy with my affordably priced sports watch. It has a lot of features for such a low price. Easy to program. Easy to use. The strap could be a little "better". I'm not sure how to phrase it exactly, but it feels different than others. It seems to be made from a different material than ones I've had in the past. Different might be good. It is too soon to tell.

Make Time Fly With Hyper-Color Pop Watches

As more and more handheld gadgets be shown equipped with every so often old-fashioned-telling adeptness, watches seem almost vain these days -- except for when they're hyper-colored, wonderful-digital, electrifying art for the wrist. Star-struck crowd watches rocket hit moon

Posted by adminOct 09, 2009COMMENTS

BRIDGEPORT -- About 140 students, teachers and space buffs from as far away as White Plains, N.Y., crammed the Discovery Museum's auditorium Friday morning to witness history in the making -- a spacecraft crashing into the moon's south pole.

The occasion was the intentional collision of NASA's LCROSS spacecraft into crater Cabeus A, a perpetually dark feature of the lunar south pole. Most of the crater's floor never sees sunlight, so NASA scientists hope that comets have left icy deposits there, deposits that future astronauts could use for drinking water, and to make oxygen and rocket fuel.

The Discovery Museum was the only site in Connecticut that offered a public showing of the crash's live feed from NASA.

"This was perfect timing for our solar system unit," said Joshua Lake, a teacher from the Pomfret School, a private school in the northeastern corner of the state. "Were' really excited about the data that will come from this, even though there wasn't much to see."

How come I kill watches when i wear them?

girl4whales asks: This has been active on for years. But when I wear my watches, they slow down, or just die. I go thru watches like others go thru contacts. Doesnt even matter what type of watch!! This is not only driving me about, but it isnt cheap having to buy new watches. And yes, in my life I need to know what time it is and need to have a watch. And no, it doesnt have anything to do with the room I am in. Can someone please explain this? Thank you so much!

Wally Y answers: My Priest and I share your concern because we both had this problem. We could walk into a room with a TV playing and disrupt the picture. I did the same thing, went through watches like no tomorrow. What I ended up doing was getting a sack watch. It worked forever. Not the battery kind, but the wind up yourself kind. You just have to remember to wind it once a day. And precisely because it is normal for a guy to wear and use a pocket watch doesn't mean you can't. In this day and age, you should try it.
