Broken band anchor!
The watch itself is excellent, but the design of the anchor where the wrist band attaches to the watch is poor. The band has broken away from the watch. This is the third Casio watch where the wrist band anchor has broken. They should use metal instead of plastic to anchor the wrist band
BE CAREFUL WITH CASIO
I have had a Casio watch for about a year and now the watchband needs replaced. I was informed by Walmart that they cannot replace a Casio watchband. I called Casio and they told me that as far as they know NO CASIO WATCHBAND CAN BE REPLACED BY A NORMAL WATCHBAND! I had to order a watchband from Casio and they had to know which model it was before I ordered it. Total price: $12.00 shipping, handling and sales tax included. I then asked the representative if instructions would be included because it was a different type of setup instead of pins. HE SAID THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO RECOMMEND TAKING THE BAND TO A JEWELER TO HAVE IT PUT ON!! PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS AS BANDS DO NOT LAST FOREVER!!
It lasted about two weeks.
The reason is a broken band anchor, as also mentioned in a previous review. It happened while I was taking the watch off. The plastic on the watch that holds the anchor pin broke away. I don't think that the pressure I exerted that caused this was that extreme. I believe that the quality of the plastic wasn't good enough for normal use. I do not recommend it.
Poor construction - you get what you pay for (or maybe even less)
I purchased this watch in July '09. I wore it for 1 week and then one day it simply fell off my wrist. The point on the watch casing where the pin holding the wristband is inserted had snapped off. It appears that the hole for the pin had weakened the structural integrity of the watch casing at this point. Mind you, I'm not wearing this watch on a construction site or exposing it to any undue abuse or stress - I'm sitting in front of a computer most of the day. Anyway, I sent the broken watch off to Casio for repair, figuring it must be under warranty. Unfortunately the repair estimate came back from Casio for $46.00 - the watch casing is NOT covered under the warranty. My week-old watch had cost me $29.99 on Amazon, so it'd be cheaper to buy a new one, which I will NOT do, after this experience.
Eww, Plastic
As a watch lover, I was excited to receive my watch. Upon opening the box, I found the plastic watch band broken. Now, I am rather cheap, so understandably I did not expect to open up and receive an indestructible nuclear time-piece, but I had hopes for one of slightly higher quality. Buyer beware- it's a great watch and a steal... only at a much lower price.

On a much lighter note, Amazon was very diligent and efficient at taking back the defective watch and returning a full refund. Kudos to you oh great internet shopping center.

wasn't for me, returned it
Lights blind you at night to the point you get a headache. Numbers on bezel are hard to read. Bezel is hard to turn. Band is garbage. Glass bubbles out making it prone to scratching right out of the box.
unsatisfied with my casio
did not care for the band. and the knobs on the watch gouge me. i would have returned the watch if i hadn't thrown the packaging away.
The strap doesnt look good
The dual led is very bright like head lights, and the strap is so old fashioned.not so cool.
So-So
If you're looking for a basic diving watch, then this isn't a bad choice. Otherwise, go with Seiko/Citizen or any of the other "diving" brands.

The rubber strap has a very "cheap" feel to it. The lighting system is good but seems cheesy to someone who's used to Super Lum or even Tritium light source. The glass reflects a lot as well. I noticed that the quartz movement of the "second" hand doesn't line up with the actual markers. For a watch person like myself, this is bothersome.

Like I said in the beginning, it's a decent watch for the casual user but for a diving watch I'd look for something that is rated ISO6425.
Nice watch for the money
This is a nice looking watch for what it costs. It seems robust and looks good if you like things a little flashy. The band does reflect the price point though. It's stiff plastic and I found it unwearable. You can change it for a silicone rubber band (much more comfortable) for not much money, which was worth doing for me. Can't really go wrong for the price.

What happened??
I bought this watch looking forward to the fact that it had both analog and digital options along with a metal band. I received it and not a week later, it died. I thought that it must have been the battery and took it to get the battery replaced. The technicians replaced the battery and nothing happened. The watch had literally died. I looked to send it back because it was still in the 30-day return timeframe, but since I had worn it and because I had thrown the packaging away after it worked for a week (about the day before it died) it did not meet the qualifications of being returned "unworn and in the original packaging." I do not recommend purchasing this item due to its unreliability when it comes to actually working.
This watch is far from electro-luminescent by me!
This is false advertising at it's best. The analog hands don't light up and you can't see the digital part at night (the reason I picked this watch.) Electro-Luminescent is a joke. Shopmeko would take it back if I had all the packing and it was like new. I expected it to work and as far as I am concerned, was falsely represented and defective. You get three seconds to push the right button and read the digital time. This thing is a rip off. Don't fall for the lighted watch feature.
garbage
Right away I knew it was cheap. It looks hefty but holding it instantly reveals that the bulk is cosmetic. While the watch looks to be made of metal, only the strap is. Everything else -lens et. al.- is plastic... a fact that was quickly revealed by the fact that the chrome paint quickly began to disappear off the area around the face from nothing more than rubbing against a cuff. On sale, this is priced at about three times its value -- I can't even imagine how disappointed one would be paying almost $200 for it.
WATCH DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WAS SHOWING ON AMAZON
WATCH DOES NOT MATCHING BOOK ALSO INSTRUCTIONS NOT VERY UNSTANDABLE. NOT TOO HAPPY WHEN IT ARRIVED AND DIFFERENT ON MAIN PAGE FOR AMAZON OR RETAILLER
Light, cheap feel
band may be metal but it's so light and cheap it could break just as easy as plastic. Overall construction feels cheap and lame. Very disappointed.

Terrible Terrible Watch...lasts a few months then dies.....
I've had Timex watches for years and thought this new "flix" enabled watch would be just the right upgrade when my last one died after 4 years and got my parents to buy me one. Not so. First I had one die about 2 months after I got it, at the beach the second I got in the water. I thought, oh that must have had a bad coating or something, and since it was a gift and I didn't have the proof of purchase or any of the stuff to get a warranty replacement, I just went ahead and bought a new one of the same model. It lasted 2.5 months. Timex replaced that one with a new one and it died again about a month and a half later. The Flix system seems to make it way less sturdy than the other Timex watches (or at least how they used to be) so that even ordinary arm motions can make the whole thing become unresponsive and then just lock up or die. I'm a geology grad student and I need to have a trustworthy watch that I don't have to take off when I go and do field work, but if these watches can't even handle me sitting at a desk, they're junk.
Keep Your Receipts
Too bad I didn't keep my receipts.

This watch has buttons: recall, indiglo, stop, mode, and start/split.

But the most important button is mode. That's what controls whether you see or adjust your time, chronograph, alarms, etc.

For no apparent reason, my mode key "froze". (Trust me, there was no abuse on my part.) The mode key can normally be pushed, but I would certainly need to be an "ironman" to push this button in so that I can use it.

The reviews for this watch were great, I guess I got the bad one. Just keep your receipts.
How Long Do These Things Sit on the Shelf?
My new watch showed up dead. The battery was already worn out. To open the watch and replace the battery will cause the seal to leak and the watch is no longer water tight. I would think that someone would have at least checked the watch prior to shipping to see if it was dead. I will not buy another watch through Amazon due to this poor service.
Fragile.
The band pulls apart from the watch case, the buttons pop off, and the paint flakes off.

In short, a rather fragile watch that will work for anyone that won't really do much with it.
Defective display
Just got this watch and its now back in the box to be driven to the post office for return. The display is defective. The middle horizontal lines for the main display and the hundreds display is missing. In other words 8's look like 0's, 3's look like backward C's etc. OK so its defective, it happens, but what causes me to write the review is I don't see the slight darkening where the horizontal lines should be. I can see in the LCD the circuit traces that make all the lines that do display but no ciruit traces for the missing horizontal lines. Clearly, I could be wrong but this doesn't seem like an instance of a wirebond breaking on my paticular watch, it seems like they printed the LCD wrong. If that's true they might have made thousands with this defect.

date adjustment feature failed
I purchased this watch about 6 months ago. With this kind of watch, after any month with fewer than 31 days in it, the number in its day-of-the-month window must be manually reset to '1', in order for it to display the correct numbers during the following month. Today (at the beginning of December) when attempting to reset that number, I discovered that its date-resetting function no longer operates. While I've owned this watch, it hasn't been subjected to any trauma. The failure of its date adjustment feature seems to have been a spontaneous failure, in other words, which suggests to me that this model's mechanism for adjusting the date is of poor quality.
Disappointing poor quality watch
As in my other Citizen (a GMT ecodrive) the hands don't line up at 12 o'clock and the luminova is unevenly applied. Manufacturing glitches seem to be common with this brand, which is unfortunate because their solar technology is basically a good idea, it just needs a better execution.
Seconds hand does not index and band is poorly made.
Just got mine two days ago and I am very disappointed that the seconds hand does not index with the minute markings. It makes the watch appear cheap and substandard. The movement of the seconds hand is not crisp and defined and may be the result of a poorly made mechanism.

The watch band is not to my taste and I would replace it if I were to keep wearing the watch but at this time I am considering returning it to Amazon since the poor indexing bothers me quite a bit. I don't sit there and observe the seconds hand but the fact that I know that it does not index correctly makes me feel that I am wearing a very poorly made watch.

I am not recommending this product to people that are critical of quality and refinement in manufacturing.
Not a durable as hoped.
This watch was on order within an hour of discovering it. It's perfect old-school military looks, its size, and the reliable brand didn't give me any qualms about buying without reading any reviews. As you can see from the watch's ratings, reviews would not have deterred me anyhow. Obviously, and hopefully, my experience was entirely different than most owners. When the watch arrived it was exactly as I was expected. Looked beautiful, was lightweight, comfortable, and super easy to read. A five second Surefire blast had it easily readable for the next two hours in the dark. The first thing to show up that disappointed me was how easily it was scratched. Not just the glass, but all metal surfaces too. When I finally put the watch in a drawer permanently, it was so scratched as to be unreadable from any angle other than looking straight down on it. This was at the six month point. I had already been slightly annoyed with it for the previous five months, because once the first month of owning it rolled over, it was not able to be set to the proper date, no matter who tried. I've owned several analog watches in the past that I was able to set the date easily on, but not this one. I was in Iraq, so was unable to take it to a dealer to let them try, but now that I'm home and could, I don't bother. The third negative was the watchband took on a sweat smell within a month that couldn't be washed out.

I still love to look at it when looking at new watches, but won't be trying another one. BTW, I replaced it with a Seiko 5 SNK809K2 Military, and the negatives I experienced with the Citizen were not an issue with the Seiko. It proved to be superior in every way, other than looks.
poor quality
The quality is terrible. I've tried two of this model. The first one failed on the next day after arrival--the date/weekday wheels can no longer rotate. Amazon replaced it for free. But the same problem appeared in a few months. I had to let it sleep on my desk for several weeks until recently it fell off and the fragile glass cover broke into pieces.

Make Time Fly With Hyper-Color Pop Watches

As more and more handheld gadgets be shown equipped with every so often old-fashioned-telling adeptness, watches seem almost vain these days -- except for when they're hyper-colored, wonderful-digital, electrifying art for the wrist. Star-struck crowd watches rocket hit moon

Posted by adminOct 09, 2009COMMENTS

BRIDGEPORT -- About 140 students, teachers and space buffs from as far away as White Plains, N.Y., crammed the Discovery Museum's auditorium Friday morning to witness history in the making -- a spacecraft crashing into the moon's south pole.

The occasion was the intentional collision of NASA's LCROSS spacecraft into crater Cabeus A, a perpetually dark feature of the lunar south pole. Most of the crater's floor never sees sunlight, so NASA scientists hope that comets have left icy deposits there, deposits that future astronauts could use for drinking water, and to make oxygen and rocket fuel.

The Discovery Museum was the only site in Connecticut that offered a public showing of the crash's live feed from NASA.

"This was perfect timing for our solar system unit," said Joshua Lake, a teacher from the Pomfret School, a private school in the northeastern corner of the state. "Were' really excited about the data that will come from this, even though there wasn't much to see."

watches???

tangent answers: A water proof orderly look like a divers watch has a rubber seal in the back of the watch and they also have a threaded ring. For the most part, as it costs several dollars hunred. Similarly, if you want to have changed the battery. You must send in the company who made it, because most jewlers dont 'have the skills needed to seal the points the way it was when you bought it.

How come I kill watches when i wear them?

girl4whales asks: This has been active on for years. But when I wear my watches, they slow down, or just die. I go thru watches like others go thru contacts. Doesnt even matter what type of watch!! This is not only driving me about, but it isnt cheap having to buy new watches. And yes, in my life I need to know what time it is and need to have a watch. And no, it doesnt have anything to do with the room I am in. Can someone please explain this? Thank you so much!

Wally Y answers: My Priest and I share your concern because we both had this problem. We could walk into a room with a TV playing and disrupt the picture. I did the same thing, went through watches like no tomorrow. What I ended up doing was getting a sack watch. It worked forever. Not the battery kind, but the wind up yourself kind. You just have to remember to wind it once a day. And precisely because it is normal for a guy to wear and use a pocket watch doesn't mean you can't. In this day and age, you should try it.
